Supporting Information Effect of regional precursor emission controls on long-range ozone transport: 1. Short-term changes in ozone air quality
نویسندگان
چکیده
Table S1 shows the annual average change in ozone, spatially-weighted over the receptor region, due to 10% anthropogenic NOx emission reductions in each source region. Table S2 shows these results for experiments where NOx, NMVOCs and CO are reduced simultaneously from three source regions. Comparing with the three-month population-weighted indicators in Tables 2 and 4 of the main paper, the strongest source-receptor pairs are generally the same, but there are important quantitative differences, suggesting that the quantification of long-range transport can vary strongly with the ozone concentration metric used.

Supporting Information Effect of regional precursor emission controls on long- range ozone transport: 2. Steady-state changes in ozone air quality and impacts on human mortality
Table S2 shows the long-term change in ozone due to changes in CH4, for all source-receptor pairs. Relative to the results in Table 1 for long-term ozone, Table S2 includes the spatial distribution of the long-term ozone response to CH4, where for any source region, the influence is greatest for EU as a receptor (particularly for the summer period relevant for this three-month indicator) and le...
متن کاملEffect of regional precursor emission controls on long-range ozone transport – Part 2: Steady-state changes in ozone air quality and impacts on human mortality
Large-scale changes in ozone precursor emissions affect ozone directly in the short term, and also affect methane, which in turn causes long-term changes in ozone that affect surface ozone air quality. Here we assess the effects of changes in ozone precursor emissions on the longterm change in surface ozone via methane, as a function of the emission region, by modeling 10% reductions in anthrop...
متن کاملEffect of regional precursor emission controls on long-range ozone transport – Part 1: Short-term changes in ozone air quality
Observations and models demonstrate that ozone and its precursors can be transported between continents and across oceans. We model the influences of 10% reductions in anthropogenic nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from each of nine world regions on surface ozone air quality in that region and all other regions. In doing so, we quantify the relative importance of long-range transport between all ...

Abstract: Clean air is a necessity for human well-being and health. Air pollution is a major threat to humans and other organisms and is considered as one of the environmental challenges. Today, with the increase in air pollution, the need to know more about the causes of its occurrence has been raised. The various consequences of air pollution have made air quality monitoring and control inev...
متن کاملUncertainties in future air quality: a scientific workflow tool
Future air quality in large cities will not only depend on how sustainable the city administration will be in terms of how they introduce clean technologies and organize the energy, heating and transport systems. Urban air quality will also be affected by global, hemispheric and regional contributions of longrange transported pollutants, for which the future evolution is depending on internatio...
